Want to connect to your children’s learning experiences at school but they currently don’t have any homework? Check out this post from Edutopia, giving parents 15 alternative questions for deeper inquiry into the learning and experiences of their children’s day at school.

The questions are posed for middle school children, but can easily be used with all aged children with a little tweaking. Take advantage of time in the car, waiting in line, or family talk around the dinner table. When children reflect and discuss prior learning, they experience metacognition, or “thinking about thinking,” enabling the brain to develop deeper meaning and connections.
