I won’t say too much here, because the time reading this could be better spent watching the video. 🙂
However, keep in mind, no matter what grade you are teaching, you are providing students with key fractional knowledge in their overall progression of understanding. In addition to what the video says, this even begins at kindergarten as students come to the realization they can decompose shapes into smaller parts, and continues into fifth grade as students apply their understanding of fractions and using the four operations.
